Its all about me mememem MEEE

Seriously.. What in the world is wrong with worship today. Don't get me wrong I don't mind occasionally singing a song that is.. well about me?

Most of writers today have a tendency to write worship songs that are centered around us rather than Him. Yes I believe that it has its place but I am a firm believer of songs that are directly pointed at Him rather than me. I need my focus to be off of me for at least ONE day during the week. Please don't get me wrong.. There are some great "me" songs out there:

Open the eyes of MY heart Lord (emphasis on MY mine.. lol)
Lead ME to the cross
Draw ME close to You

I could go on but I think you have an idea where I am heading. Psalmist and Christian focused writers of today need to begin changing their focus and place it on the One that deserves it most. I am pretty sure I will be slammed by some on this and personally that's ok. We need to think about this.. We need to begin to write MORE songs where God is the absolute focus, giving praise solely to Him

This is a call out to all Lead worshippers out there.. Lets begin a revolution in worship by penning songs focused on Him. May God richly bless you and your family.

  1. Very good observations Kevin. One thing that I've noticed over the years is how people want to have a custom designed worship experience on Sunday mornings. It's kind of like "worship in the box" drive through. I'll have some uplifting "praise" but please hold the grunge guitar. You know what I mean.

The question shouldn't be what did I get out of worship today. It should be what did God get from my worship of Him today.

    Keep up the good words.
